The Department of Pharmacy provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Our main goals are to promote safe, appropriate and cost-effective medication therapy for our patients and to provide oversight and leadership of the medication use process.

The department supports education of pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals through active participation in the multidisciplinary care of patients. Pharmacy services ensure that medical and nursing staffs are provided with pertinent drug information and clinical decision support to improve overall patient care and reduce the risk of adverse drug events.

Cookeville Regional pharmacists are involved with numerous patient-care, quality and operational committees to ensure optimal continuum of care for our patients. Drug information, disease state in-services, pharmacy newsletters and pharmacotherapy presentations are all provided by pharmacy staff to enhance the knowledge of our healthcare teams.

The Pharmacy Department works closely with health system administrative personnel to ensure budgetary concerns are addressed and that resources are allocated to provide superior services to our customers, including patients and the medical center staff. This relationship is also fostered through Pharmacy’s involvement with regulatory agency standard compliance.

Lastly, the Pharmacy Department believes strongly in the future of pharmacy, students and residents. Cookeville Regional Medical Center is proud to host rotation sites for students from numerous colleges of pharmacy as well as providing a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency.
