COMMUNITY SERVICES

Volunteers

Volunteers play a vital role at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. They help make our patients and their families comfortable and provide important support to our staff.

Volunteers perform many tasks in several areas throughout the hospital. Volunteering enables you to help others, share your talents and participate in the community you live in. However, there is now one more reason to volunteer — it’s healthy!

Studies show that volunteers experience a greater-than-average sense of well-being, increases in optimism and decreases in chronic pain.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering at Cookeville Regional Medical Center is a meaningful way to stay active, engaged, and connected to your community.

As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to help others, meet new people, and gain valuable skills and experiences along the way.

Most importantly, you’ll make a lasting impact both in your own life and in the lives of those you serve.

Where can I volunteer?

Opportunities are available in the gift shop, public entrances, Cancer Center, Pet Therapy, Patient Visitation, and various hospital departments.

How much time is involved?

Volunteering is flexible and designed to fit your lifestyle.

Most of our volunteers serve one shift a week, about three to four hours, but there’s no set requirement. Some give more time, and others help out when they can.

We’ll work with you to find a schedule that fits comfortably into your routine.

Pet Therapy

Our Pet Therapy Program brings smiles and emotional support to patients, visitors, and staff through the unconditional love of certified therapy dogs. These special visits can ease stress, reduce anxiety, and lift spirits throughout the hospital.

Two Ways to Get Involved

1. Certified Therapy Dog
If your dog is already certified through an approved therapy organization, we’d love for you to join our team! As a therapy team, you and your dog will visit patients and staff, offering companionship and encouragement during their hospital stay.

2. Pet Buddies
If you love dogs or just want to make a difference in the lives of others, volunteer as a pet buddy. Pet buddies partner with one of the pet therapy teams as they visit throughout the hospital to provide support.

Whether you’re walking alongside a therapy dog or helping coordinate visits, you’ll be part of something that truly makes a difference—bringing moments of happiness and comfort when they’re needed most.
