Hospital Board Welcomes Dr. Bert Geer

Dr. Bert Geer, the newest member of the CRMC Hospital Board

The Board of Trustees at Cookeville Regional Medical Center welcomed its newest member, Dr. Bert Geer of Cookeville. The Cookeville City Council appointed Dr. Bert Geer to fill the seat of board member Dr. Ernest Buchanan, who served nine years on the board of trustees.  Dr. Geer will begin serving his seven-year term on August 1, 2024.

Dr. Bert Geer, a native of the Upper Cumberland. He earned his bachelor of science degree from Tennessee Tech University and pursued his medical education at the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. After completing his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he became board-certified and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2014, Dr. Bert Geer achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first board-certified physician in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, also known as urogynecology, in the region.

His special interests include minimally invasive surgery for hysterectomy, including the DaVinci robot, and pelvic support surgery for women with cystocele, rectocele, or incontinence. Dr. Geer was the first surgeon in the Upper Cumberland to perform a total laparoscopic hysterectomy and the first gynecologic surgeon trained to use the DaVinci robot. Dr. Geer has also performed over 2,000 pelvic support and incontinence procedures at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
