CHILDBIRTH

Why choose Cookeville Regional for
your childbirth experience?

Since 1950, we have been welcoming new life.

Becoming a mom is one of the most rewarding milestones in many women’s lives.

We have been delivering babies at Cookeville Regional Medical center since 1950, and we currently average 1,500 births per year. Cookeville Regional understands not only the importance of your prenatal care, but also the benefits of a comfortable labor and delivery hospital setting. The labor and delivery team at Cookeville Regional has the skills and experience to provide the expert care you want for yourself and your baby.

Physicians, nurse midwives and our staff of experienced labor nurses coach and support expectant parents as they go through the birthing process. The Birthing Center meets the needs of all expectant parents, including those who wish to have natural childbirth in a home-like setting with the security of knowing that state-of-the-art equipment is close by in the event of an emergency.

We want to give you the flexibility to create the most unique, family-centered birthing experience available. We respect your values, your concerns and your wishes, so our staff works hard to keep you comfortably in charge of your own childbirth experience.

You can choose from an experienced staff of obstetricians, certified nurse midwives and pediatricians who, along with our labor and delivery nurses, provide you personal attention and easy accessibility combined with state-of-the-art technology. All of our rooms in the birthing center are private to maximize your time bonding with your newborn. We have 12 labor and delivery/recovery rooms, 12 postpartum rooms and two cesarean surgical suites equipped to handle any complication that may require more complex care. Infants remain with their mother throughout their stay unless they require special care. For those infants, we offer care in our nursery area in close proximity to our pediatrician staff and is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.

Lactation services are available to our mothers as well.

After all, you are bringing a new, one-of-a-kind life into the world. We want to make it a memorable and happy occasion.

Our experienced team of OB nurses educates
parents-to-be on pregnancy, delivery options, and
newborn care.

The team consisting of obstetricians, midwives and nurses are here to support you and your baby throughout your pregnancy.

Personalized birthing care for you and your baby

We want to understand what is important to you so we can meet the needs of you and your baby. We can work closely with you to learn your birth preferences, help you understand your options and answer your questions. Together, we will create a customized care plan, including for labor and baby bonding.

Prenatal education to
prepare for your baby

Many questions are running through your
head.

“What can I expect during labor?”
“Should I breastfeed?”

You want a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, and that’s our goal, too. Our team will be with you each step of the way for a healthy pregnancy, a safe and meaningful birth, and a smooth transition to parenthood. They will make it their mission to educate you, as well as support your emotional and physical needs throughout your care.

From registration instructions, what to bring to the hospital, lactation information and postpartum/newborn discharge information, all of that information is here.
