Cookeville Regional Awarded Sepsis Certification From The Joint Commission

Cookeville Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s certification for sepsis treatment once again. They received this award for their sepsis program by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in disease-specific care and recognizing Cookeville Regional’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards. Cookeville Regional has held The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal since 2017.

“We are grateful to once again receive the Gold Seal from The Joint Commission for sepsis,” said Buffy Key, interim CEO at CRMC. “The team at CRMC works diligently to follow best practices to care for sepsis patients, and I am proud of our medical center for the care they deliver.”

According to the Sepsis Alliance, Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection that can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. Sepsis can happen to anyone, but it is more likely to happen to those with weakened immune systems.
