The Advanced Wound Care Center at Cookeville Regional Moving to New Location

Advanced Wound Care

The Advanced Wound Care Center (AWCC) at Cookeville Regional Medical Center is excited to announce that it is moving to 445 N. Cedar Avenue in Cookeville. The wound care specialists will officially start seeing patients at their new location on Monday, March 3, 2025.

“The great care our patients receive will remain the exact same; only the location will change. We are excited about our new office location. It will offer more room and the same convenient parking,” said Jason Wyatt, Director of The Advanced Wound Care Center. “Bringing the best in wound care to our region is the top priority, and we look forward to serving even more patients at our Advanced Wound Care Center.”

The Advanced Wound Care Center at Cookeville Regional has been serving the community for over a decade, helping those who have a non-healing wound with treatment and healing.

They currently have two hyperbaric oxygen tanks. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to treat some medical conditions and is used in the treatment of certain kinds of advanced wounds. The treatment occurs in a chamber the patient can see out of. They lie on the inside of the chamber where they can watch TV, read a book, or watch a movie. The chamber is pressurized, with patients breathing 100-percent oxygen. This helps the blood carry the extra oxygen and takes it to their injured area to promote better and quicker healing.

“Waiting to seek treatment is one of the worst things you could do when you have a non-healing or chronic wound. We are here for our community and those who need help to receive specialized wound care and clinical expertise so they can feel better,” said Wyatt.

A medical doctor oversees the AWCC, allowing them to bring together specialists from several medical and surgical specialties to ensure that patients in the Upper Cumberland region receive expert attention when it comes to their wounds, oversees the AWCC.

Types of wound treatments available are:

  • Acute and chronic wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous and arterial wounds
  • Bone and soft tissue infections
  • Diabetic wounds
  • Extremity wounds with edema
  • Non-healing surgical wounds or grafts

When a patient arrives at the AWCC, an assessment of the patient takes place, allowing the staff to create a personalized treatment plan.

The staff performs wound consultation/evaluation (diagnostic and ongoing assessments) and treatment, non-invasive vascular studies, specialty wound dressings, cellular and tissue-based products, compression therapy, and treatment of wound infections. They spend time educating the patients and families they see, talk about pressure off-loading devices and footwear, perform debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, and if needed, Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).

“We see incredible results from our patients,” said Wyatt. “Our team is top-notch and deeply cares for the patients they see. They are proactive and stay up-to-date on the latest research so their approaches and therapies work for their patients. We welcome current and new patients to journey with us at our new location on March 3. ”
