The Cookeville Regional Sports Medicine Center offers comprehensive sports medicine services from injury prevention and conditioning to therapy.

Whatever the playing field, whatever the injury, athletes trust the specialists at Cookeville Regional Sports Medicine Clinic to get them back in the game.

Specialist David Maldonado, a doctor of physical therapy, athletic trainer and sports clinical specialist, can help athletes do just that.

However, before you play, you need to get a sports physical.

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) says you must get a sports physical. This is also called a PPE (Preparticipation Physical Evaluation). The PPE promotes the health and well-being of athletes as they train and compete. It also helps keep athletes safe as they play sports. It is not meant to stop them from playing.

Outpatient therapy

Outpatient physical therapy is designed for patients who are in need of physical therapy due to an injury or serious medical condition but are independent enough to receive these services while living at home.

The focus of outpatient physical therapy is helping people improve their mobility and quality of life, so they can get back to daily activities. Visits tend to be between 30 and 60 minutes, with additional exercises that a patient can do at home.

For Your Appointment

Wear loose-fitting clothing that you will feel free to move and comfortable exercising in. Your first session won’t be very physically demanding. We will spend time assessing your current condition and discussing your future goals for therapy and activity.
