Armed Security Officer

Type: PRN
Education: High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required; post secondary education/experience in criminal justice preferred. State of Tennessee Armed Security Guard license preferred. Must complete the IAHSS levels (3) of certification and other required training within the first 12 months of employment.
Hours: Varied
Experience: Must be 21 years of age. Must possess State of Tennessee Law Enforcement Commission or POST certification (another state’s equivalent accepted) in good standing or have a minimum of two years military, law enforcement, or armed security experience or possess a specific skill that would benefit the department and hospital. Three years CRMC Protective Services experience and State of Tennessee Armed Security license accepted in lieu of other experience.
Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills and extremely strong skills in personal diplomacy; demonstrates personal traits of a high level of motivation, team orientation, professionalism and trustworthiness, places high value of treating others with dignity and respect. Must be familiar and remain current on knowledge of criminal and civil statutes relevant to security operations and topics related to responsibilities. Must possess a current, valid Tennessee driver’s license and provide a good driving history. a. Must be able to write legibly. b. Must be able to use a personal computer or have the ability to learn. c. Must be able to use a two-way radio. d. Must obtain a State of Tennessee Driver’s License “F” endorsement prior to employment. e. Must be able to pass the CRMC Protective Services armed competency test at the discretion of CRMC Protective Services management. f. Must obtain State of Tennessee Armed Guard license within first 90 days of employment.


This position is responsible for the daily functions of the Security Department as well as insuring the safety and security of CRMC’s employees, patients, visitors and property and the performance of other tasks relating to the welfare, safety and security of the medical center and its satellites.
