Maintenance Tech

Type: FT
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Hours: 11p-7:30a
Experience: a. Three years previous experience in building trades required. b. Basic knowledge of construction codes required. c. Contractor’s licensure preferred. If designated and assigned by director a valid driver’s license would be required which includes: • No more than 2 Minor Violation or at fault accident in the past 12 mos. or 3 in the past 3 years. • No major violations I the past 3 years • No suspended, expired, revoked, or other status indicating the driver is not licensed. • No inexperienced drivers having less than 3 years operating the vehicle type they are driving.
Skills: a. Must have good working knowledge of current city, state, federal, NFPA and JCAHO regulations relating applicable codes. b. Must read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manufacturer’s manuals, troubleshooting charts and procedures. c. Must possess the ability to work with weights and measures (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using numbers, common fractions and decimals.) d. Exhibits confidence in self and others. e. Inspires respect and trust. f. Reacts well under pressure. g. Shows courage to take action. h. Motivates others to perform well. I. Communicates changes and progress. j. Completes projects on time and within budget. k. Uses time efficiently. l. Works in an organized manner.
Description:

 

This position is responsible for the construction, repair, remodel and/or maintenance of the hospital campus consistent with the Medical Center's strategies and objectives.  Included:  Assist the Supervisor of Plant Facilities in meeting compliance with city, state, federal, NFPA and JCAHO regulations relating applicable codes.  According to assignment, job responsibilities may include: demolition duties, repair/upkeep and remodel of existing structures, construction of new structures, and maintenance of interior surfaces (floors, walls, ceiling), preparing surfaces and applying floor tile, paint, varnish, vinyl or ceiling tile as appropriate in all areas of the hospital complex and off site locations of CRMC.  According to assignment, may also include: installing, maintaining and repairing the lock/key system including: locks, door locks, panic hardware, drug boxes, door closures, file cabinets, desks, lockers, etc.  May coordinate specific construction projects of the campus including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems and assist in the development, implementation and modification of specific construction projects if assigned.  Performs boiler watch.  Maintains excellent working relationships with other hospital departments. Supports and carries out the hospital policies and procedures.  Supports the Department Director, Supervisor, and department staff.
