MRI Assistant

Type: PRN
Education: A. High-school diploma (or GED). B. CPR certification preferred but not required for hire. CPR certification mandatory after 3 months. Classes available through CRMC at no charge to the employee. C. Completion of a Nursing assistant program preferable, but not required. D. Training in MRI safety. This training will be provided by CRMC.
Hours: 7:30a-4:30p Sat/Sun
Experience: Some medical background preferable, but not required.
Skills: A. Able to Interact with patients, their family and physicians in a pleasant, positive and courteous manner. B. Answer telephone politely and obtains all necessary information. C. Able to provide assistance to physicians, technical workers and supervisors. D. Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner. E. Basic computer skills are necessary.


Under the direction of an MRI technologist the MRI Assistant is responsible for assisting the technologist in providing appropriate, timely, quality patient care within the scope of service of The Imaging Center.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: room and coil preparation, patient pre-safety screening and when applicable escorting patients to and from MRI, additional duties with which the technologist requires assistance as assigned and associated with the daily operations of the MRI area including a variety of administrative tasks and housekeeping functions such as work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection prevention.  Responsible for maintaining proper function of all equipment used while escorting patients (including, but not limited to, oxygen tanks, IV pumps, IV poles, wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds). This position in responsible for helping maintain the non-ferrous MRI environment.  MRI Assistant shall exercise professional behavior and ethics while performing services in a demeanor complimentary to customer service, age specific criteria, safety and medical ethics.

MRI Technologist

Type: PRN
Education: Graduate of an AMA accredited school of radiologic technology. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology as a Radiographer and MR technologist. Or become certified in MR one year (12 months) after completion of all MR competency exams. Certified in BLS.
Hours: Varied
Experience: 4 years of experience in Radiology and 2 years experience in MRI is preferred.
Skills: Operates Magnetic Resonance Imagers, flow regulated injectors, UPS systems, patient monitors, hospital computer systems and other associated Imaging Department equipment. Must interact with professional and caring attitude toward patients, families and other hospital employees in times of stress. Must handle pressure, stress and numerous interruptions associated with busy schedules in the MRI department.


This position is responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists and/or staff physicians while performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations in concordance with Physicians orders. This professionally trained person will be responsible for the operation of MRI scanners, flow rate injectors, patient monitoring systems, and a picture archiving system.  This position is responsible for the use of radiographic supplies including gadolinium contrast while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic secretarial, clerical and housekeeping functions such as customer service, examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control.   This position, in addition to superb technical skills, will also require the ability to follow the CRMC service commitments to customers and fellow staff.
