Social Worker

Type: FT
Education: The position requires a bachelor’s degree in social work or Masters Degree in social work or equivelant.
Hours: 11a-11p
Experience: The position should have at least one year’s social work experience, preferably in health care. Prefer experience in psychiatric management and placement.
Skills: Must be able to deal with multiple tasks and with a variety of people, including department staff, patients, families, community resources, other hospital staff and physicians. Must be able to work effectively with patients and families of all ages. Must be able to handle multiple deadlines in a busy environment. Must have the ability to learn complicated regulations and be able to access resources. Must be able to write legibly and communicate effectively and be able to perform certain computer functions. Must be able to use deductive thinking and be able to use established counseling skills. Must have BLS upon hire or within 1 year of hire.
Description:

This position is responsible for providing a wide range of social services in the Emergency Department in accordance with the hospital mission and objectives.  Services provided by Social Service include assisting patients and their families in addressing social, emotional, and economic issues associated with illness or injury.  Crisis intervention, discharge planning, continuity of care, financial assistance and referrals to community resources, while interacting with interdisciplinary team are some of the assigned duties.  Persons of all ages are served. This position is responsible for the contribution of quality care for this Emergency Department patient/family/significant others.  The Social Worker functions within established policies and procedures while providing for the psychological and psychosocial support of the patient, family, and/or significant others in the Emergency setting.  The social worker serves as a liaison between patient/family/significant other and the Emergency Department staff and physicians; promotes communication, provides for positive atmosphere, and encourages promotion of the Emergency Department and Cookeville Regional Medical Center to family, visitors, and other personnel

Patient Care Associate/Unit Secretary/EKG Tech

Type: PRN
Education: High school graduate (or have minimum of GED). CNA Certification preferred. CMA required at Inpatient Rehab.
Hours: Varied
Experience: Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred. No minimum required.
Skills: Able to read and write English. Clinical skills to perform basic nursing care. BLS current or within first 90 days of employment.
Description:

This position is responsible for performing basic and advanced Nursing Assistant skills under the direct supervision of an RN/LPN according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines within the department and the Medical Center.

Triage Tech

Type: PRN
Education: High school graduate (or have minimum of GED). LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant (MA) upon hire. If previous licensure/certification of EMT, EMT-P, or MA and has expired or unable to transfer then must obtain Licensure/certification within 8 months of hire. If licensure/certification is not obtained within 8 months then will not be able to continue in triage tech position.
Hours: Varied
Experience: Prior experience in a hospital setting, preferably emergency services.
Skills: (See unit specific competency skills list). BLS certification required on hire or during orientation. Basic EKG lethal arrhythmia interpretation.
Description:

This position provides clinical support to professional staff for basic nursing care under the supervision of physicians, RNs, and LPNs.  Assists with routine cleaning of equipment and environment.  Responsible for supply inventory maintenance, stocking, and ordering with support and input from nursing staff.  Assists with transporting patient per stretcher or wheelchair.  Backup support for unit secretary during peak volumes and breaks.

Hours: 7a-12p, Varied
Experience: Two years experience in acute care nursing required.
Skills: BLS required at hire or during orientation, IV Qualified
Description:

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process within an assigned unit; assesses, treats and care for patients demonstrating an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. These activities include day-to-day supervision and room scheduling of staff, assisting nursing director with staff development and evaluation, assisting with development of policies and procedures, performing data collection and analysis, performance improvement and coordination of supplies and equipment. Provide patient care as required and takes appropriate share of workload. Performs other duties as assigned.
