Cookeville Regional Medical Center Announces Completion of 5 West Patient Floor

Leadership gathered to cut the ribbon on new 5West

Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is proud to announce the completion of its new 5 West patient floor, designed to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver exceptional care to the community. The 5 West patient floor will officially open its doors to patients on Monday, December 16, 2024.

This significant expansion adds 20 patient beds to CRMC, helping meet the growing demand for inpatient care bringing CRMC’s bed count to 289. Additionally, the new floor includes six dedicated inpatient dialysis bays, providing critical support for patients requiring specialized kidney care. The 5 West floor is equipped with cutting-edge technology, comfortable patient accommodations, a bariatric room that is the first of its kind in our region and streamlined workflows to ensure efficient and compassionate care.

“The opening of 5 West represents a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to serving the healthcare needs of our region,” said Buffy Key, CEO of Cookeville Regional Medical Center. “By expanding our capacity and introducing new resources for dialysis inpatients, we’re ensuring that our community has access to the highest quality care, right here at home.”

The completion of 5 West underscores CRMC’s dedication to staying at the forefront of medical innovation and addressing the needs of a growing patient population. The addition is part of the hospital’s broader strategic plan to enhance services and infrastructure to better serve the Upper Cumberland region.

In late January 2025, CRMC will begin construction on another patient floor, 4 West.
