Cookeville Regional Medical Center offers a Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program that will build clinical and leadership skills that are essential for pharmacists to efficiently and effectively operate in today’s healthcare environment.
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Cookeville Regional is a one year, American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited program. The residency program began in 2011 and is currently offering three positions.
Intensive and varied experiences are offered in critical care, cardiology, internal medicine, practice management, metabolic support, oncology, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, medication safety, drug information, anticoagulation, infectious disease and informatics.

Intensive and varied experiences in internal medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, nutrition care, drug information, cardiology, anticoagulation, practice management, medication safety, pharmacokinetics, oncology, emergency medicine, ambulatory care and informatics.
Residents will participate in educating providers, students, patients and the public throughout the facility and in the community.
Facility preceptors are affiliated with the University of Tennessee, Lipscomb University, Union University, Drake University and South College.

This position is responsible for pharmaceutical care of patients, including all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).
Applicant is also responsible for participating in Pharmacy Quality Improvement activities and teaching pharmacotherapeutics and community medication education classes.
Prospective resident will use knowledge and critical judgment to make decisions concerning patient drug therapy. He/she should demonstrate knowledge of the psychosocial needs, clinical assessment implications, and/or consequences of technology upon all age groups.

Applicant should possess the ability to work independently in clinical activities and in the development of workflow processes and procedures.
Good communication skills linking pharmacy, nursing staff and the medical staff is mandatory.
Accrued paid time off (PTO): 5.2230 hours per pay period
