Cookeville Regional Joins Nationwide Effort To Promote Patient Safety Awareness

In an effort to raise awareness and encourage the engagement of patients, families, health care providers, and the public, Cookeville Regional Medical Center participated in Patient Safety Awareness Week.

Patient Safety Awareness Week took place March 11-17, and it is an annual education and awareness campaign for health care safety led by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF). Each year, health care organizations around the world take part in the event, creating awareness in their community and among their staff. Cookeville Regional stands with other hospitals to show that patient safety is a high priority for their organization.

“Patient Safety is one of the most important elements we focus on here at the medical center. We want to always improve the way we treat our patients in clinical and non-clinical settings. I am proud of the work that our staff does every day to make Cookeville Regional a leading health care provider in our community,” says Scott Lethi, Chief Nursing Officer at Cookeville Regional

This week will be filled with patient safety education and reminding staff what the patient safety goals are at CRMC, as well as infection control safety, medication safety, life safety, emergency preparedness, and more.

“We are concerned with patient safety every day, this week we just spend a little more time recognizing and educating on what all we actually do here (CRMC),” said Chevelle Johnson, Assistant VP of Nursing. “This is not only for our staff, but we also encourage patients and their family members to speak up about their care.”
