Cookeville Regional Medical Center is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing the management and strategy of the department of pharmacy services by establishing and maintaining standards, systems and processes  to ensure operations support the mission, goals and objectives of the hospital.

  • Directs, manages and supervises daily administrative operation of the Pharmacy to ensure highest quality service response and delivery consistent with established professional, regulatory and governmental standards. This includes the inpatient pharmacy, decentralized pharmacy services, oncology pharmacy services, outpatient pharmacy, and ambulatory pharmacy services
  • Directs, implements and evaluates development of departmental, functional and/or service related policies and procedures
  • Develops, manages and supervises purchasing and inventory management functions to ensure cost effective inventory management and 340B program compliance
  • Responsible for compliance with state and federal laws and regulatory requirements including the Tennessee Board of pharmacy, DEA, CMS, EPA, OSHA, Joint commission, and the 340B program
  • Participate in and contribute to management and professional committees inside and outside of the hospital, and keep up to date in trends and changes in pharmacy and the healthcare system as a whole to ensure a progressive, competitive pharmacy environment
  • Responsible for pharmacy staff development, skills validation and training as it pertains to drugs, development and implementation of drug usage evaluation criteria, literature reviews, new drug evaluations and presentations, drug information and drug references.
  • Participates in fiscal planning, budgeting and planning for the integration of departmental pharmaceutical services including, but not limited to decisions for allocating resources for the drug budget. Develops departments short and long term goals
  • Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students and pharmacy residents

 

Education:  Doctor of Pharmacy required; MBA or MHA preferred; completion of PGY1 or PGY2 clinical residency program preferred

Experience:  Five years hospital experience, with two years as a Director/Assistant Director or three years supervisory experience required

Licensure:  Current license by the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy

This position is responsible, under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s) on duty, for pharmaceutical care of patients including all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).  This position is also responsible for coordinating Pharmacy Quality Improvement activities as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy or the Pharmacy Manager. The individual in this position is to be alert to innovative ideas that will improve pharmacy services and activities and to share same with the department director/manager.  This position uses knowledge and judgment to make decisions concerning the proper filling of drug orders subject to final approval by the pharmacist(s) on duty.  

EDUCATION:  High school education or equivalent.  Successful completion of certified technician training program with successful completion of PTCB exam or certification by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

EXPERIENCE:  Pharmacy experience (hospital preferred) or completion of technician training program clinical internships preferred
