Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Apply

Description:

This position assists with the management of CV Service Line patients.  In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will assist with patients that have been admitted into the CV Service by the cardiologists or CV surgeons or when the CV Service Line Physicians have been consulted by other physicians.  The Nurse Practitioner may assist the CV Service Line Physicians with admission of patients, patient rounds, consults, history and physicals, discharges and other duties with their scope of practice.

EDUCATION:  Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing Masters program.  Evidence of continuing education.  Current unrestricted Tennessee licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse and RN.  Must hold a national Certification in a Nursing Specialty Area.

EXPERIENCE:  Prefer 1-3 years NP experience with cardiac patients in acute hospital setting.  Previous experience as RN in ICU or cardiac step-down.

SKILLS:  ACLS, Prescriptive Authority (DEA Number), proficient in clinical skills of assessment of Cardiac patients.  Abides by agreed upon protocol for patient care and possess good communication skills.  Knowledge and understanding of computer use.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, consultant, leader, and researcher.  In collaboration with the medical staff and nursing staff, the CNS monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes.  Incorporated within each of these role functions, the CNS is a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader, and cost-effective practitioner.

EDUCATION:  This position requires a Masters degree in Nursing (MSN).  The candidate must also be licensed as an RN in the State of Tennessee and an APN in the State of Tennessee.

EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of two years in specialty environment as a staff nurse; a minimum of one year in a Clinical Nurse Specialist role in a similar setting.

SKILLS:  Must have the ability to deal with organization, physician, patient, family, employee and public demands.  Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.  Must be able to function independently and to be flexible in a variety of situations.  Must be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation, teamwork, professionalism and trustworthiness.
