This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process within an assigned unit; assesses, treats and care for patients demonstrating an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.  These activities include day-to-day supervision and room scheduling of staff, assisting nursing director with staff development and evaluation, assisting with development of policies and procedures, performing data collection and analysis, performance improvement and coordination of supplies and equipment.  Provide patient care as required and takes appropriate share of workload.  Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:  Graduate of a school of professional nursing.  Current Tennessee RN license. 

EXPERIENCE:  Two years experience in acute care nursing required. 

SKILLS:   BLS required at hire or during orientation, IV Qualified

Labor & Delivery

  1. Previous L&D experience preferred
  2. ACLS upon hire or within 1 year
  3. NRP upon hire or within 1 year (if works in Nursery as a float)       
  4. Fetal Monitoring Course upon hire or within 1 year
  5. Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire or within 1 year (Exception:  Nurses with experience in patient populations requiring arrhythmia interpretation will be given the standard CRMC Basic Arrhythmia test and those scoring 85 or greater will not be required to attend Basic Arrhythmia.
Certified Surgical Tech Apply

The Surgical Services Technologist functions as a member of the surgical team in assisting the Operating Room Registered Nurse (Team Leader) in the preparation and implementation of care for the surgical patient.  The Technologist collaborates with other team members of the healthcare delivery team, to include physicians, to deliver quality, safe, and efficient health care. The Technologist possesses expertise in the theory and application of aseptic technique, in combination with knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and implementation tools and technologies, to facilitate the physician’s performance of surgical procedures. The Technologist is responsible for creating and maintaining a sterile environment, proper handling and care of surgical instruments and equipment, and passing those instruments to the surgeon and/or assistant for use during surgery.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient’s status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary populations of patients served by the department.


The Technologist is expected to attend continuing education opportunities that enhance his/her skills and job knowledge.  The Technologist is responsible for taking on-call duty after normal hours of operation on a rotational basis.  All technicians are responsible for taking call as assigned, and should be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes of being called back in.


This position is responsible for assisting with basic nursing care of patients and newborns under direct supervision.  Assists with routine up-keep of equipment, environment and stocking supplies.  Assists with transporting patients and basic clerical functions.  The obstetrical technologist, while maintaining standards of practice, collaborates with peri-operative team to deliver care to the obstetrical/surgical patient and newborn.

  1. EDUCATION:  Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.  Graduate of Surgical Technological program required. Surgical Tech Certification required.


  1. EXPERIENCE:  Prior Nursing/Surgical Technological program required,  and certification required or must be working on and have completed within one year of hire.  Must be available for on-call assignment with access to a telephone and transportation.  Must adhere to guidelines of a closed unit.


  1. SKILLS:  Requires good communication skills and good working knowledge with computers is preferred.  BLS Annually, Infection Control, also must adhere to guidelines of a closed unit.
