Patient Care Associate

This position is responsible for performing basic and advanced Nursing Assistant skills under the direct supervision of an RN/LPN according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines within the department and the Medical Center. 

1.  EDUCATION: High school graduate (or have minimum of GED).  CNA Certification preferred. CMA required at Inpatient Rehab.

2.  EXPERIENCE:  Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.  No minimum required.

3.  SKILLS:  Able to read and write English.  Clinical skills to perform basic nursing care.  BLS current or within first 90 days of employment.

Unit Secretary

This position is responsible for all secretarial and receptionist duties and coordination of related activities of the nursing station, including coordination of critical communication between physicians, nursing, patients, families, and other health team members.  Position requires utilization of computer, verbal and written skills. 

1.   EDUCATION:  High school diploma (or GED).

2.   EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a health care setting preferred. Basic computer skills.

3.   SKILLS: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills.  Able to read and write English.  Computer data entry.

Description:

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process within an assigned unit; assesses, treats and care for patients demonstrating an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.  Oversees the work of other professional and non-professional personnel. 

 

  1. EDUCATION:  Graduate of a school of professional nursing.  Current Tennessee RN license.  (See Unit Specific Requirements)

 

  1. EXPERIENCE:  Experience in acute care nursing preferred.  (See Unit Specific Requirements)

 

  1. SKILLS:  BLS upon hire or during orientation (See Unit Specific Requirements) 

 

Critical Care

1.  Previous critical care experience preferred

2.  Critical Care course or CCRN upon hire or within 3 years (Exception:  Experienced critical care nurses will be given the BKAT standardized test upon hire and those scoring 85 or greater will not be required to attend the Critical Care Course.)

3.  Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire or within 1 year (Exception:  Nurses with experience in patient populations requiring arrhythmia interpretation will be given the standard CRMC Basic Arrhythmia test and those scoring 85 or greater will not be required to attend Basic Arrhythmia.
