Description:

The Activity/Clinical Therapist will be responsible for providing therapeutic activities for Cumberland River Hospital, and will facilitate the rehabilitation of the mentally and/or physically handicapped.  A structured routine will be necessary in order to formulate necessary daily activities in conjunction with interventions when needed.  Admission assessments, discharge notifications, and daily documentation are required and will be the sole responsibility of this position.  This position will report directly to the Senior Care Unit director and will require collaboration for anticipated activities.  The Activity/Clinical Therapist provides direct patient focused care to include the implementation of treatment plans designed by the treatment team to provide quality treatment to meet short and long term goals according to the patients’ needs.  It is also imperative to possess skills in assessment, psycho diagnosis, treatment planning, group treatment, individual treatment, family treatment, and discharge planning.

The Activity/Clinical Therapist may work with any /all patients of the following age groups based upon individual responsibility, training, and competency:  Infants (age0-18months), Children (age 19months-12years), Adolescents (age 13 years-17 years). Adults (age 18 years – 64 years), and Geriatrics (age 65+ years).  The Activity/Clinical Therapist is required to perform the professional duties and standards of care as specified by the, state and federal laws and regulations, and TJC standards.

EDUCATION:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field from an accredited university.  Certification from an activity therapist training course required within 12 month of hire.  Must have BLS certification within six (6) months of hire. Must be able to read and write English.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare or the mental health field.  Group counselor experience, activities experience and/or nursing facility experience is a preference.
