EXPERIENCE:  Oncology certification preferred.  Two years experience in acute care nursing with minimum one year experience in oncology required.  Must pass chemotherapy certification  course in order to adminstrator chemotherapy.  Knowledge of oncology treatments and side effect management. 

SKILLS:  BLS required at hire or during orientation, IV Qualified

Description:

This position is responsible for the nursing/Lab tech care of the Center patients,  These activities include day to day supervision and room scheduling of staff, assisting departmentdirector with staff development and evaluation, assisting with development of policies and procedures, performing data collection and analysis, performance improvement and coordination of supplies and equipment.  Acts as a liaison between the nursing/Lab tech staff, physicians and administration to improve and maintain quality and safe patient care. Provides patient care as required and takes appropriate share of workload.  Performs other duties as assigned. 

1. EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing. Current Tennessee RN License. Evidence of continuing education. IV qualified. Chemotherapy Certified. ACLS/ within one year of hire. Oncology Certification required.

2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 year in a Cancer Center setting, two years of management experience preferred

 

3. SKILLS: Flexible, knowledgeable regarding comprehensive care of oncology management of patients.  Demonstrates management skills and/or attitude.  Past Charge RN experience required.  Ability to perform Cancer Center Nursing Skills.  Ability to coordinate staffing and patient census in a multidisciplinary department. Ability to supervise, plan, organize and motivate the activities of staff to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of quality and safe cancer care. Provides nursing care for patients as needed.

 

Radiation Therapist Apply

Description:

The Oncology Staff will work with the following age groups based upon individual responsibility, training, and competency: Adults (age 18 years- 64 years) and Geriatrics’ (age 65 + years).  This position is responsible for accurately administering radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.  Assists as a liaison between patient physician and nursing staff.  Explains treatment procedures to patients and their family members when asked.  Reinforces recommendations and instructions to the patient concerning reaction to treatment and care of radiation area.

1. EDUCATION:  Graduate of accredited school of Radiation Therapy.  Certified with American Registry Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy Technology (ARRT).

2. EXPERIENCE:  Registry or registry eligible as RTT.  Two years working experience in Radiation Therapy Preferred.

3. SKILLS: Knowledge in Radiation Oncology, the principles governing radiation safety, use, and application of radiation to the healing arts.  Ability to operate all equipment in the department necessary in providing patient treatments, able to handle incapacitated and difficult patients, and remain calm in a crisis situation.

Description:

This position is responsible for performing secretarial, clerical, communication, customer service, basic medical terminology, Front Office Oncology scheduling,  interacting directly with the Oncologists and clinical oncology staff. Personnel in this position must understand and operate  information systems software including, but not limited to Scheduling, One Content and Fax system.  This position is also be responsible for exercising professional judgment while performing services in a demeanor complimentary to customer service and medical ethics.

1. EDUCATION:  High School diploma: additional education in business or medical field preferred.  Knowledge of medical anatomy and physiology preferred.

2. EXPERIENCE:  Previous experience in a medical setting involving clerical and basic medical terminology preferred. 

3. SKILLS: 

  1. Interacts with the public in a pleasant, positive and courteous manner.
  2. Answers the telephone politely and efficiently.
  3. Able to provide precise clerical assistance to customers, physicians,  clinical coworkers and supervisors.
  4. Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
  5. Able to successfully operate office equipment and perform data entry tasks.
  6. Able to accomplish several tasks at a time.
  7. Has a grasp of root words in medical terminology. Advance customer service skills such as surveying, and questionnaires.
  8. Able to work well under pressure of deadlines. 
  9. Able to successfully interact with computers making use of software programs, data entry, archival and retrieval applications.
  10. Able to demonstrate the understanding of continuum of care, customer recovery, and advanced customer service.
  11. General knowledge of oncology medical records.
